Dr. David Sequeira has been a Marriage and Family Therapist since 1976. He believes that Marriage Therapy can be compared to building a bridge over two solid pillars which are the couple.
The roadblocks that prevent relationships from working successfully are the "unfinished businesses" of the past. Emotions associated with the past often prevent couples from sorting through complex issues that confront them.
Once these emotions are dealt with, then it is easy to teach couples how to communicate using the "Transactional Analysis Method" i.e., teaching them to act as "adults" and not as "parents" nor "children". These communication tools will transform the way the couple interact with each other and will allow them to reach mutually beneficial agreements on issues that had long been a source of conflict.
